I am Hoyt Teague, retired from Military, living in Tenn.
Several years ago I was in Texas on a National Guard Tour.     While there, a buddy and myself walked downtown and in a     window in one of the shops, I saw a Cushman.
I'd never owned one, but had seen several in the                 neighborhood while growing up. so I knew what it was but  some of the other men weren't so sure. Thought I'd 'lost it' for sure by bringing this piece of junk back to Base with me.  Later on I really realized what I had. It was an Eagle. And that started my association with the Scooter world. I've owned several since then, and have really enjoyed meeting with other folk who are of the same interest. My wife and I began going to local shows in The Knoxville area. Our first national meet was in Knoxville in 1990, Joined the SECC when it was first formed, and later joined The Vintage club.
My First Cushman
I have  always enjoyed working with my hands. When I first started riding my scooter, I had trouble with the exhaust blowing soot on my pant leg.(Leaking) On one occasion I had a tent pole in it for want of something better. Fussing over the lack of a good fitting exhaust I told my wife "I'm going to make a better tail pipe" Her reply?
'you going to use a bigger tent pole'? (She was a bit skeptical-actually more than a little)  This began my attempts at making accessories for our scooters. The pipes turned out well, and from there I made headlight shades, breathers, luggage racks, and various other items. Recently I improved on the original gas cap and have developed one that will not leak.
